I wrapped up Memorial Day weekend by finishing these night stands for our master bedroom. The material is pine & I used the building plans from the Ana-White website. I came up with a different door design then what the plans called for. The lesson I learned with this project is always buy the door hinges first, then build the cabinet & door. I had difficulty finding a inset cabinet hinge locally that I liked, and unfortunately the design of the door did not allow enough room for a mortise. I traveled 45 minutes to the closest Home Depot & bought oil rubbed bronze 2” pin hinges which worked great. My wife picked out the door handles, and she also helped painted the frames. The table tops have 1 coat of stain and 3 coats of satin poly. After I brought the stands into our bedroom, I discovered the doors did not want to stay closed, so I plan on adding hardware to prevent the doors from opening on their own. The stands look really nice in our bedroom, and I’m happy with the results.

Really nice looking. The arched doors really set them off.

Beautiful rustic style, I like that black-white contrast.

Great execution of the plans you found. I like the contrast in the finishes.
