Project Information

My first project to get back into wood working. Made a rolling base out of 3/4" pipe. Spray painted the pipe to a desirable color. fashioned up walnut shelving for the bottom two shelves. The top is walnut, hard maple and bloodwood.

There is a spacer block with a 3/4" hole in it attached to the base. I put 3/4" walnut dowels in the top block itself. These were then put into the spacer blocks, making for easy removal later and we can repaint the base or put in a different color spacer block to help with kitchen colors later in the islands life.

Looks beautiful. I like the addition of the bloodwood. Any worry about setting something heavy on one end of the shelf and the shelf tip over?

Not to much worry about it tipping. very long base, and that pipe is heavier than you'd think. if someone tried to sit on it, maybe. it's held a loaded RTIC cooler so far and no worries, so I think we're ok on tip.

thanks guys! I'm very fond of the bloodwood now!

So nice. The use of the bloodwood is a nice touch. Have you considered the possibility that putting anything heavy on one end of the shelf could cause it to topple over?

No need to be overly concerned about it tipping. The base is quite long, and the pipe is heavier than it appears. Unless someone attempts to sit on it, there shouldn't be any issues. It has successfully supported a loaded RTIC cooler without any worries, so I believe we're safe from tipping concerns. Flixeon
