This is my first commission for a piece of furniture. I only had to build the base as they want to get a piece of stone, granite or marble, for the top (heavy!). They wanted an “asian vibe” to compliment a recent redecorating effort in their living room. So I consulted many websites to look at examples and narrowed it down to a few key features: reverse-tapered legs, the uplifted ends on the slatted shelf underneath, and the curved aprons. This is African Mahogany finished with Darrell Peart’s “Greene and Greene” recipe: 2/3 ratio of orange to medium brown GF dye stain, and 4 wiped coats of Arm R Seal satin. I will update pictures when they get the granite slab and it is in its new home.
And in case people were wondering, I do some dry fits and whatnot on my pool table because it is probably one of the only large professionally leveled surface in my home!
