I am one of those people who cannot stand for long periods without experiencing a lot of back pain. I built this bench as a way to take some of the weight of my legs during long turning sessions, which is a better way to deal with the problem than back braces and ibuprofen. As many will notice, the design is based on the weaver’s benches posted by thejaz and cracknpop.
It works pretty well, but after using it for a while I have some ideas for improvements. I will probably experiment a bit with this one, and then I will eventually build a second one with some design changes. I’ve started a blog series that will cover the journey, beginning with where I got the basic concept and the sources of inspiration for the design. I plan to continue with a description of the build, experiments with modifications, and eventually with designing and building the second one.
