The wife wanted a new headboard for our bed. She has always loved the craftsman style and fell in love with this one. It is built with red oak and the major joints are held in place with square walnut pegs. There are so many spindles that during construction, I had nightmares about spindles. It is stained with a mix of Cabaret and Dark Walnut, finished with Amber Shellac.

Very nice. Did you mortise each freakin spindle or use a long dado and spacers twixt each spindle?

Brian, great looking headboard. I like the design and the square walnut pegs add a really nice touch. Welcome to LJ’s and thanks for sharing your project with us.

Looks like pretty solid construction and the finish turned out great!

Nice headboard.
Do the slats have round or square peg ends?

Thanks for all the comments. There is a square mortise for each spindle; hand cut too…
