Here is my 1st lidded bowl I turned with Jimmy Clewes.
It is about 6 inches round,
The bowl is ash that has been scorched, and sealed with wax.
The lid is curly maple, with spirit stain dyes.
Final finish on the lid is polished and waxed with automotive finishes.

Very eye catching. Your choice of finishes for the bowl and lid are interesting. I am curious what kind of auto finish you used on the lid.

Interesting finish is right. It was all Jimmy Clewes. I made the bowl at one of his classes about a year ago.
And can use a refresher on how I did it.
Trying to remember all the steps. It has to be sanded to something like 1000 grit. Any scratches will really stand out.
I pretty sure this is the one I used micro mesh on too.
After the dye, I think it got spray lacquer, then the auto finishing started with turtle wax polish, and then wax.
I am going to do an all day class with Jimmy next weekend. Think its time to revisit this process.

looks good. I have been using automotive polish and wax on my turnings. It produces a glass smooth finish.
