I found an piece of oak that I think was and old ironing board based on the shape. My wife wanted a bird house to put on the light pole outside that she could see from the kitchen and this is what I ended up with. Let me know what you think.

What we think doesn’t matter, its what those in the 1st picture think that counts. It looks to me like you get a A+ .

Nice feeder. The open style attracts a lot of different birds.

Nice job. I have been wanting to make a feeder that is visible from our kitchen as well. Thanks for the motivation.

Looks like the birds are enjoying the feeder and they are fun to watch while they are at their task – your wife will enjoy watching them from her window.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

The birds seem to really like it (and my wife does too). It certainly is nice to see some life during the winter time. We have gotten a large variety so far. Before it got colder, we even had a few Orioles come and eat. Prior to that, I had only seen them from very far away so that was quite a treat. When I was making it, I thought the base was way too big, but I think the bird enjoy it as they can get right in there and eat.

Have your say...
