I have been doing a series of blogs on this project but today I have to wrap the project in its Christmas paper and deliver it to my daughter before she leaves on her overseas trip that will take her to the Orangutan rescue centre in Borneo. So I did the final finishing with orange skin oil followed by and orange oil/canubra wax application and buff with cotton cloth. I hope you like it – I still have more to add to the blog about the carving and finishing and will do that soon.
For more about real orangutans look here.

Your daughter will definitely love it. It’s a great job of carving and the detail is wonderful.

Fantastic piece very nicely carved. I also feel that the vulnerable expression on the Orangutan’s face pretty much sums up their plight nowadays and is therefore very appropriate. I hope you do more of these kind of carvings. Your daughter is bound to love this gift and cherish it.
