Honey Mesquite. Show is all I can do now with this piece, its too big for my mill(Doh). I wont use a chainsaw, last time I did that I lost 2” of center. Besides, this trunk has to many burls to screw it up, so it will be awhile.
34” x 28” x 5’ and theres 2 pcs. Enjoy the picture and the possibilities your imagination permits.
A light crack, a freefall(amazing) and a BOOOM/ the groung shooked! They sure are bigger when they are lying. Please suggest ways to mill to maximize yeild.

I being new to wood have never seen mesquite but this is some beautiful wood… I tell you women friends of mine think I done gone lost my mind but I would rather look at wood that dresses etc… I could spend hours at the local lumber shop or Woodcraft is one of my favorites for all the unique woods.. They are just beautiful…

Rob, I’ll try to take a picture of a Mesquite still standing, city wont allow its removal. City gots a ban on large tree removal now. Someone bought a corner comercial lot for a gas station, he or they chopped down one of the biggest mesquites here. Since then the city pass a law.

Wrap it up in brown paper and send it via USPS. I’ll cut it up for you – I just wish I could make a find like that here!!!!
Seriously – take a look at the Logosol web site (http://www.Logosol.com) (http://www.logosol.com/_sawmills/sawmill_network/?todo=list_owners&location=tx) somebody in your area will have a Mill system and be able to help you – I had no problems milling my big cherry (90 cm 35” diamerter) tree this summer using my M7 (http://lumberjocks.com/jocks/Tikka/blog/1315). Good luck

BlueStingrayBoots, where are you exactly? I like mesquite as much as you, and wish the rest of the country had the opportunity to work it too. I’m heading toward the border during the the summer with my kids to camp at Big Bend and would like to touch base with you. Don’t worry, my kids are accustomed to having to straddle strange, but beautiful boards. They just call it “Daddy’s addiction” and put up with it. They are great kids! Sending via email too.

TomK, I’m about 8hr drive from Big Bend park. Blueskies Mill(that what I named my yard and garage) isnt really something to see for the 8hr drive, but I sure do have some/few pretty mesquite allready milled. I think I can load you up with 100bf or whatever you my need. Put in a order and I’ll have it ready. The trunks in pictures are gone already, they ship in april to CA.(I am going to miss them. wish my mill was bigger)
see pic of another trunk that goes in same package.

42” at the crotch at one end and 27” in the middle, 104” length. Paving company guy let me have it for some pizza money. They have other contacts with mills, so nothing goes to landfill. Alot of mesquite goes to north TX, Austin area.
