Project Information
All,
Here are some pictures of a project I completed and delivered in November.
These chairs and table were built according to a customers specifications. The chairs were based on a catalog picture furnished by the customer, and the table was sized to fit her dining area.
Chairs, black walnut, aniline dye, lacquer and fax finish. Upholstered by Randy Moffat in Kansas City, Mo.
Table, black walnut and walnut crotch veneer. Lacquer and wax finish.
Also, photographs by Jim Mathis of Overland Park, KS.
The table top put me extremely out of my comfort zone, having never done any veneer work. She wanted a nice grain pattern, so I suggested doing it this way, figuring I would learn as I went. I would like to give some credit to Mark Arnold for his article in Fine Woodworking on sunburst tops and also a few questions along the way. The pedestal was made of 6 pieces turned on the lathe and assembled together around a plywood core.
This is really not anything like I usually make, and it was fun to stretch outside my normal limitations. Please let me know what you think! Thanks, Cal.
