This is the very first thing I ever “built” (I use the term very loosely) I mostly wanted to share it because its one of the things that got me started down the path to woodworking. I have an alcove running along one wall in my room I decided would be perfect for my computer, but couldn’t find a desk in the right look or size (well, for under several thousand dollars that is, bleh) so I decided to try and make one.
The base cabinets are all the prebuilt ones I bought from Lowes (tho I modified the insides a little to accomadte the CPU and hide the power bricks, and add ventilation), the top is simply a few slabs of MDF that I at first tried to stain black (yeaaa that didn’t work out so well lol) then I found these really cool looking black marble vinyl floor tiles, so I used them to cover the top and edges with. I added a keyboard shelf (which I ended up using for the hard drives and gadgets – turns out the cabinets I used were just a few inches too high to use comfortably as a desk LOL)
One of my major goals in learning about woodworking is to be able to rebuild the entire thing from scratch, and this time make it JUST the right size, also I want to add matching shelving and wall cabinets above it. Tho I do really like that top :)
