These two benches are made of solid mahogany with ebony square in between them and on the plug they almost kind of a Japanese style

very nicely done. Strong design. I agree that they’ve got a vaguely Asian feel about them (Tori gate-esque?), but it’s not so pronounced that it makes them caricatures of the style (I get tired of things like ‘Shaker’ home entertainment systems, I mean, ‘tis the gift to be simple, ‘tis the gift to be free, ‘tis the gift see, what’s on TV?)

These are great looking benches Dale. You do nice work.

I had just been wondering how to improve on a design I saw yesterday, where the slats were rabbeted into the end caps and screwed in. Eventually the joint gives up and the slats fall off the front edge, leaving the sharp ends of screws hanging out of the end caps.

Your design looks like it might solve that problem… but I’m wondering how you’re joining the seat to the supports?

That’s mahogany? Looks so light in color.

Usually outdoor benches are simple and relatively boring to look at. This is quite the opposite.
Very attractive and inviting.
Well done.

I love the design. Beautiful benches. I also love the sign in the background.
