Wormy Soft Maple Chest. Made for the Frenzel residence, Noblesville, In. Finished with aniline dye, and dull rubbed laquer. The last pic shows the raw wood before finishing. I believe wormy soft maple is a beautiful and underrated wood for furniture. It is very reasonably priced and plentiful. Isaac

Beautiful piece. I agree with you on the beauty of that wood.

That’s one of the nicer pieces I’ve seen made of Soft Maple. I like using it myself. Down here in Florida they like to call it swamp or red maple but it sure can produce some nice figure. Let’s keep this to ourselves so the marketprice will stay reasonable,,,LOL!!!!!

Here in NE Alabama we have more “worm colors” in the maple. It is also a medium hard wood too, not soft. I will do some more research but suspect the region it is grown makes all the difference. Anyway, Nice project.

Very nice design and workmanship. The wood is also beautiful.

Looks great! I’m curious why the second set of drawers have panel insets. Styling or is there some other feature as well?

The paneled fronts are actually doors.
