My neighbor contracted me to make a name plaque for her husbands desk at work. He received a Purple Heart, and I thought it would be clever to use Purpleheart wood. I added some Maple to break up the purpleheart so it didn’t look like a block of purple. Letters were routed using a CNC with a 1/8” bit. I also added a slot that holds a 1.75” diameter challenge coin (he has a few that are from his unit or are for receiving a Purple Heart Medal).

I don’t know why, but I really like the profile view….guess it’s the wood contrast. Looks great and I definitely like the pun you played with the wood choice! LoL. Thanks for sharing!

profile view i agree looks amazing… Rob Cosman has a similar idea…he made hand saw handles out of purple heart wood and donates the proceeds to help wounded warriors..overall the name plaque looks awesome..Great job.
