Furiosa's War Rig

I’ve been making toy cars lately and thought the war rig from 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road would be fun. The truck and trailer are 4” tall and 23” long, alder with walnut accents. All 6 axles are 1/4” threaded rod with lock nuts epoxied on, and the trailer connection is a 1/4” brass rod. I pinned the walnut to the body with glue and some bamboo skewers using templates to transfer the hole locations.

If I were to do again I would make the trailer taller and maybe a bit longer, but I cut both pieces from a the same 24” stock so wasn’t possible this time. I’ll admit that on a perfectly flat surface not all wheels touch, but any kind of carpet and they all engage nicely.

My daughter will have to grow a bit before she can play with this, but it’s finished with mineral oil so she can try to gnaw on this all she wants.

Thanks for looking!
