I made this box to try something different with the lid and I liked the outcome alot. The contour of the handle on the lid fits right in your fingers perfectly. Burmese Blackwood is a member of the rosewood family which are know for being hard and oily so I chose to leave this box unfinished and just polished only.

——Question——
Somehow I messed something up and the bottom of the box right in the middle is only 1/16th of an inch thick. Does anybody know if this will cause it to crack or something in the future? Please let me know.

Nice job on the box Andy. That blackwood reminds me a bit of black palm, only this is nicer.
As far as being worried about that 1/16’’ thickness, the only thing I could say is I posted what I called (cherry vase) a few years back. It has to be about 1/32’’ thick in a few places. Still in one piece but just for show. Hold it up to the light and you can see through it. Good luck with yours. As you know every wood is different and only time will tell.
