My wife wanted a (slightly expanded) duplicate made of a table that has been in her family for four generations and has served as a dining table in at least five different homes in the family. I was honored to make this for her, as the original piece that I got to copy is one of my all-time favorites. Making the legs was the funnest part of this project, as they splay out 4 degrees in each direction while the aprons (rails) remain vertical. Made of air dried walnut and finished with Minwax wipe-on poly. I used Osborne extension hardware and alignment pins which I found to be superb. It’s shown here with the leaf installed, which adds about 14” in length to the table.
