May, 2016—The Florida Westcoast Woodworkers Club meets monthly at a massive wood store named Advantage Lumber. This is a 2-drawer box made from a piece of Live Oak purchased from them at a club meeting last month. Unlike Red Oak, Live Oak is tight-grained and it is also nice to work with. I’ve also been experimenting with Waterlox sealer/finish. This box has several coats.
The drawer knobs are made from the same Live Oak, using a plug cutter in my drill press. The drawers are flocked in black.
I took this box to the show ‘n tell at the club meeting and received some nice compliments.
