I found this pattern in woodworking magazine and thought that it would make a great gift for my father-in-law who enjoys fishing and wine. The wood is leopard wood. My wife thought that the grain resembled fish scales. It is finished with two coats of poly.

Very nice effect using leopardwood. But fish wine…... how does THAT taste? and how many do you have to squeeze to make a bottle? ;) ok, I’ll stop. Truly nice look, it even makes the fish look like it’s jumping out of the water to shake off a hook.

I believe that it was an older issue of Wood. I’ve seen a couple more of the same holders on this website.

Beautiful use of grain for effect. It does look like scales.
This is a great gift, I’m sure FIL will love it : )
