This is another olivewood box I turned on the lathe. Its finished with danish oil and paste wax on top of that. To turn the bottom I used the rubber band trick again. I put the rubber band over the inside jaws of the chuck and put the base right on the chuck instead of making a jam chuck. It worked great again and I think this will be my way of doing this from now on. I much prefer turning the bottom rather than parting it off and sanding the nib off.

Box measurements:
Outside (with lid on) 3 3/8” tall with a 2 7/8” diameter
Inside 2 1/2” deep with 2 1/4” diameter bore.

Very nice detailing, great grain and the concentric rings on the bottom are a cool touch.

Beautiful wood, beautiful design, beautiful proportions, beautiful job of matching the wood grain top to bottom. Definitely a favorite. Thanks for posting
