This is my second attempt at making an octagon box using the CNC machine. This time I created the cover using a collection of hardwood pieces leftover from other projects. The bottom is maple and walnut. Shellac and ploy finish.

Another brilliant box, this top is incredible. Very well used scraps.

Real nice job on that box. Not many would appreciate the work on it.

With the extra colors I like this one a bit more than the monochrome version but both are nice

Like this the best of the 2 Roger, nice shape and great use of scraps for the top.

Very elegant box. The top reminds of Mondrian

Roger, the top is nicely done. The colors and patterns are artfully arranged. I like the use of color around the rim on the bottom section too. That is a nice addition. I can’t tell from the picture, is the bottom glued onto the sides or did you use jointery similar to the bottom of the top with a dado to hold it in place?

Looks like you are having fun letting this design evolve. Are you going to add to the inside? Are you considering scaling the design up to a larger size? Looking forward to your next version of this design. Keep boxing and keep posting.
