Just wanted say hello to everyone. Here are some of my first projects so please go easy. One board is maple and purpleheart and one is maple and jatoba.

They are nice. I like the jotaba variation. Is is hard to keep them all from slipping? That seems like the biggest problem with the end grain. My woodcraft has alot of jatoba so my first is going to look like your second.

I haven’t used Jatoba yet, although I plan on making chairs out of some. While making these boards the 2nd glue up is crititcal. You have to work fast to ensure the blocks/lines match up. I made a Jig that assist me, but while setting them up I work quickly with alot of glue to ensure I can move them. Keep it up!
I have 7 boards in the finishing stage as we speak.

i have used jatoba love the wood it shines up very nice and nice cutting boards
