Had this hole in my brick wall over the driveway left from the previous owners down draft cooktop vent. Oh what to do? Took a scrap piece of pine shelving cut to size, Used scroll saw then spindle sander to adjust hole to fit electrical box. Ran a short piece of romex via wall switch and bang, hole covered. Now have some light on the drive along with a security feature with the motion sensor. Been a successful weekend!

Does this count as a mother day present for the wife?

If the hole bothered her I am sure she will accept this as a Mother’s Day present.
On the other hand if the hole did not bother her then you might be in deep dodo!

I had a similar issue but my hole problem was in aluminum siding.

I don’t think she had feelings one way or the other, moved here December 2006. Never heard her ever mention it, me on the other it was my toothache.

How did you resolve your hole?
Man! that sounds dirty!

Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together? Way to go.

Alan, a siding company owner said he would leave a “cover” piece for me to pick up on their front lawn because they closed for the day after I got off of work. He left me instructions on how to install it and it was barely visible when I got done. You don’t find many businesses operating like that anymore!

”Does this count as a mother day present for the wife?”

Only if she likes it. (I hope you got flowers too, just in case. )
