This is a project I have been wanting to do since I began woodworking nearly 6 years ago. Every family home needs a entryway bench, and after dealing with messy piles of kids shoes & boots near the doorway entrance, I got the motivation to finally take on this build. My wife & I decided to dedicate the entire wall length in front of our entry doorway to the bench seating area, and with a family of 6 it made sense to build a longer bench with shoe storage below. I found the idea for the design by searching on Pinterest, and I drew up the own plans for the build. Bench is made completely out of 3/4” pine, and the bench dimensions is 16” X 96”. The frame is painted with two coats of Sherwin Williams, and the 1 1/2” top has 1 coat of dark walnut stain with 4 coats of poly. The bench came out great, and I super pleased with the look. After a long winter, it felt great to build something again in my workshop. The next stage of this project is building a coat hanger with overhead storage along the wall behind the bench. That project will be posted in a couple of weeks, as long as the mosquitos don’t eat me alive in my garage workshop.
