This is the Bar top I just completed for my home bar I’ve been working on. It’s a built up bar, 3/4 inch maple ply as the sub strate, with 4/4 Red Oak as the top. I added the chicago style Bar rail. The top I made by jointing 6” wide stock, and alternating the grain curling up and down. The drip rail on the back is banded with red oak joined to the maple ply by a full lenght dado. Five coats of high gloss long oil Poly to finish. What to you think? did I do ok?

YES! I like it a lot. I brought back some mahogany from Honduras 5 years ago for my brother-in-law for a bar that he wants to build. We haven’t yet gotten around to build though. I have been trying to build it in my head and the only thing I can’t figure out is the bar rail. Did you mold yours or did you buy it from somewhere? I looked for it in mahogany, but haven’t found it anywhere.

Anyway, nice job and whenever we do get around to building ours, I may have more questions.

I like it. Can’t wait until you invite us all over for a drink. ;-)

anything that has “Chicago Style” is cool by me….especially the hot dogs and pizza, which I miss dearly. Great bar top
