This is ‘Lucky’. He is so named because while carving dimensional framing lumber I have learned you face certain challenges. Anyway poor Lucky here almost lost all of his right hind leg. He will be tender footed from here on out for certain.
This is another project from “First Projects for Woodcarvers.” Maybe one day I will have something up here of the caliber of CarverRog or Dick Cain. One can only hope with lots of practice.
Enjoy!

Cute little dog! I was going to ask you if it was some sort of exotic african dark wood but you said it’s dimensional framing lumber? So… is it stained black then?

Jojo, it is painted gray/black with Apple Barrel Gloss Acrylic Paint or basic arts and crafts paint if you will.

Thank you Buckskin. Isn’t it nice how a humple piece of framing timber can change with some attention? I love wood’s so many faces.

Cute little guy, that’s one thing about a little project like this you don’t need a large lumber storage shed.
Keep on chiseling, your doing fine.
