My son was a wizard for Halloween this year. He and I made this wand for him on my new (old) Walker Turner lathe.

It has a neat feature… I had an acrylic gemstone lying around that I cored out a little to accept the walnut wand tip and I melted on a clear pen barrel (which is wrapped with electrical tape here) to fit into the cherry handle. Inside the handle is one of those small flashy LED thingies.

Just turn the small flashy LED thingie on and drop it in the handle and put the wand tip on and the gemstone lights up and flashes. It was awesome at night!

Outstanding!!!! I bet your son loved it. There is nothing better than making stuff for others and it is even better when it is for your kids.

Well done I love it (I am a bit of closet Harry Potter fan too, don’t tell anyone)

I will have to agree with Ms Debbie, that is a very cool idea. I bet your son is very proud of his wand, and his Dad that built it.

Defiantly very cool! The LED light inside is brilliant. Sounds like you both had fun with it.
