We recently finished this tv cainet with retracting doors …. it is a deceptively simple looking piece but there were subtle complications that emerged during the design process regarding the sliding doors, the depth of the equipment and wires, the exterior speakers …. etc … We have nearly finished construction and will begin the finishing process soon though we don’t expect to deliver this piece until well after the holidays … More photos and process info on my dorset custom furniture blog ... there are two posts … here's one
and the link to the other one is in that post.
I originally posted this piece before it was finished and have added the the thumbnail photo recently

Dan, this is a nice piece of furniture that you are building. It is going to be interesting to see the finished piece. And I enjoy the wood combination that was selected for it. Cherry and maple are my favorite woods to use in cabinetry.

looks great.

for many years I was the one installing the audio-video equipment, home theatres and all. usually the client would order the cabinets and would not consult us in terms of requirements (depth, and access holes for wires, and speakers. and we would end up standing in front of a beautiful piece without being able to install the equipment, or with having to “modify” it ourselves… which I was never fond of doing (to someone elses work). nice to see you got it all implemented into the cabinet before hand.

Hey Dan
Very neat entertainment cabinet. I gather the two long strips of wood are the shop made channels for the sliding door, it has printing on it but I can’t really tell what it looks like or says. I took a peak at your blog in looks like you do some very nice work.

Great cabinet, simple visually elegant designs like this can ce complex, especially whe AV needs are thrown in.
