Wood turning is a new hobby for retirement. This is my second bowl, it’s made from Lychee wood which has a natural red tint. The finish is three applications of Watco Danish Oil (natural) followed by three applications of Dorland’s Wax Medium, which is a mixture of wax and resin. It is a gift to my artist sister-in-law who was visiting for a week.

Small lathe projects are fun and relaxing for me and people like the results. The startup cost was a little steep, but with that behind there are lots of options ahead.

Nice bowl, I like the sharp edges on the rim.

Lychee is among my favorite woods and the fruit is tasty too. The bowl looks very nice. :)

Beautiful piece. And welcome to retirement! Woodworking is a great pass time. I have found the more you turn and the more kinds of wood you turn, the more enjoyment and challenge.

Have your say...
