I built this cabinet about 5 years ago. One of my favorite pieces. It’s my own design, and at the time it was a bunch of “firsts” for me:
- Raised panel sides
- Arched doors with a brass “screen”
- 3/8” inset door
- Dovetailed base
And I’m sure a bunch of stuff I’ve forgotten by now. It holds maybe 16 glasses, and 15 bottles of wine, although it’s rarely full!
Made of Cherry, this project has darkened considerably since making it (notice the picture taken in 2004). It’s finished with tung oil and paste wax. I love that finish on cherry, and you can buff it out so it’s shiny if you like.
