The cabinets are meant to be dual functioning. They will act as end tables, while housing tv and stereo equipment. The one cabinet with the speaker cloth panel will house the sub woofer, and the one wth the solid panel door is for tuner, receiver, and other stereo and tv accessories. The client wanted the backs open for ease of wiring connections.
The design is what I would describe as contemporary shaker. The cabinets were finished wth tung oil for a beautiful satin sheen and grain revealing finish. The carcasses are built out of walnut plywood for stability and edge banded in solid walnut. The door frames and tops are solid walnut. Door panel and shelve are walnut ply. Painted legs and sub woofer cleats are sapele mahogany.
