This is a plywood bowl that I turned out on my lathe. The long part of the process was the glue up. If anyone decided to attempt this, I have a few pieces of advice. 1. Keep your tools SHARP. 2. Take your time. 3. Wear breathing protection or be in a well ventilated area. The fine dust that comes off of really try plywood can cause some breathing problems.

Nice job! You’re very right about the sharp tools and the dust too! I have used segmented rings of baltic birch in some of my bowls and even all baltic birch for a bowl or two, they have very dramatic patterns!

That turned out great. What type of tools did you use? Normal bowl gouge or carbide cutter type tools (like the easy wood tools)?

I used a 3/4” roughing gouge a little bit but i stuck mostly to carbide cutters. I determined very quickly that if you get too aggressive with plywood, start getting tear out which causes more work in the end.

Very nice and unique bowl. Love the grain patterns. I did cut out a small plywood bowl with my Ring Master. Cheap plywood and did not like it much. I have planning on lathe turning one from Baltic ply. So thanks for the tips.
