Here are a couple burl bowls I made for one of our LJ’s Tim387. He was generous to give me some logs and some of it was this cool looking elm burl. He does not have a lathe (yet) so what else could I make for him but a couple bowls. I dropped them off today and he and his wife love them. I forgot to measure them but I believe one is 5 1/2’’ and the other 6 1/2’’. finished with lacquer and a little buffing. Thanks again Tim.

Nice pair of bowls Dave and a nice thank you gift .
Looking at the grain I would guess it’s Manitoba maple which you call box elder down there.

Thank you Monte.

Klaus thanks for bringing up maple. I didn’t add that in the description. I had to go back and edit that.

Nice bowls Dave you did a great job on the turning and finish. Bet they were appreciated. The grain looks similar to the maple burl we have down under.

Wow, amazing bowls! Beautiful color.

I didn’t think the wood was dry enough to use. I better check mine!
