A couple weeks ago the wife came to me stating, “That old couch/sleeper in the camper has to go.” “Why can’t we have a dinette?” I like that “We” stuff…Means “Me, myself and I” will build it for her. But as long as she does the sewing, I’ll do it. And that was our deal. Here’s the problem guys (and gals). I’m invisioning one of those million dollar camper type dinettes with leather cushions, maple or cherry woodworking/trim and a Italian marble tabletop. Maybe even toss in some fancy gold trim too. But this camper is a 1986 Fleetwood Tioga…A motorhome RV…but just a camper. An old camper. And I found myself reminding myself, a zillion times, that “It’s just a camper!” So I built it out of pine plywood and trim.
Anyhow, the first pic shows the framework. Notice on the left wall how the sun has faded the panel? Also the origional carpet where the water tank used to sit? Yep…she noticed too. Now “we” get to tear it out and put in a tile floor. That’s a project maybe for next year!
The second picture shows the cabinets finished and storage area open.
The third picture is the “almost” final completion. We’re going fishing this weekend so I had to borrow the table you see from an old Winnebago that I’m fixing to sell. So the final table will be of a rustic design idea that I picked up from one of the lumberjocks here. I’m also thinking of incorporating a chessboard in the middle for those rainy nights. And yes, the table will lie down making the unit into a bed.

I’ve got a “just a camper” I’ve had for 10 years or so and would’nt trade it for, well I might trade it for something worthwhile. Looks good, like she has a good plan. jockmike

Sounds like your wife helps you to become a better woodworker, by thinking of things for you to make.
But, don’t forget what one of the LumberJocks here said (I believe it was GraveDigger).
“When Moma wants projects, Papa gets tools” ;^D
Sounds like a good slogan to me!

Nice idea and use of space.
Get any new tools out of the deal?
Like Tom said, there’s always a little room to negotiate a tool out of the deal!

Just remember Dadoo – all of the work cannot be comleted with just a right handed saw and router, if you are going to do it professionally you will also need a left handed saw and router – that way you can work from either side.
