In 2002, my grandfather designed and built what is now the hunting cabin my family stays in when hunting on a family friend’s ranch in West Texas. He passed away in 2014, and we wanted to make sure we made a memorial plaque to put on the cabin to ensure everyone staying in the cabin knew who built the cabin and on what principles it was built.
Of course, this was just one of many things I can say my grandfather built (he was my inspiration for pursuing woodworking) though, it is very near and dear to my family. It has truly served as a place where my entire family gathers together for years including my siblings, father, aunts, uncles, and grandparents!! Hunting during the mornings and evenings and hard labor during the days!!!
The sign is made from white oak. The writing and the deer on the sign were routed out then painted black. The sign is then coated with several coats of marine varnish to guard against the outdoors (though it stays out of the rain and sun for the most part). The etched sign was laser engraved out of a piece of stainless steel to ensure it will always be legible.
Thanks for looking and God bless!!
