I decided recently that having a router table would be really nice, but the didn’t want to waste all the space. So I saw a video of someone making something similar on YouTube and thought I’d give it a go. 5 drawers, built in electrical, and way too many hours later this is what I ended up with. The top is 40” long and so far works fantastically. Waaay better than some of the bench top ones and about the same in cost.

Looks like a Steve Ramsey version from woodworking for mere mortals http://woodworking.formeremortals.net/
Actually is a pretty nice design but I still want to try and make Norm Abrams version. Sorry Steve but I really like Norm’s first model.

Got any tips?

Steve Ramsey! Thanks, I couldn’t remember his name after seeing the video once and couldn’t find it again.

As for tips, I was surprised with how much wood I actually needed. It ended up being 1.5 sheets of plywood, and like 10, 8’ 1×4s. Also get a router that will mount easily, I wasted 50 bucks on a plate to mount the router to because I’m not too bright and am apparently incapable of drilling 3 holes spaced properly. Otherwise it was a breeze, just lots of time.

That’s a nice router table with lots of room.
