Well, I had the making for these pens for around a year, and just could not get myself to make my first pen. I don’t know why, but last weekend I made my first one, that was the pink one in the first picture. The other nine came very quickly. I guess that I am hooked. I seem to be thinking about pens now a lot. It is kind of a sickness? They are fun, and at this level, easy to do. I work at a gun stock factory so I get the great looking laminated woods used on most of these pens. They are much better looking than my pictures show. The two solid wood pens are Curly Red Narra, and Ambrosia Burl. I looked over many, many of the pens featured on LumberJocks before making these. I hope that I can get as good as they are. For now, these are wonderful Christmas Presents for this Holiday. I did these on a little Carba Tech lathe, that I was wondering if I was going to keep it, (I have 2 other older ones) but this variable speed was sweet to make these pens with, so it is a keeper! I will soon have 5 lathes in two shops. I have been thinking about starting a small turning club, maybe for younger kids, or just those who are younger at heart? Making these pens also helped me to convince my loving wife that I could use a larger bench lathe the Jet 1220 VS, which I ordered last weekend. I will be a nervous wreck by the time it comes. I feel like a kid at Christmas, almost weak at the knees! And the “PH” Logo is from a cloth from Pennsylvania House Furniture where I worked for 25 years making fine furniture until it was closed. Thanks for looking!
