Here is a Lap Steel I made out of solid maple with a rose wood fret board.
I could have done better as the fret lines are not as parrallel as they could have been…I need to make a jig for it but was in a hurry (as always)
I still want to put some protection maybe Tung oil or Danish.
The fret board has maple veneer strips glued mother of pearl inlay dots and I attached it only with 2 way tape.
How does it sound? Well really good but I’m not a good player on the lap steel yet! standard guitar is were I shine.
I’m learning the Traditional Hawaiian song Aloha Oe.
It’s tuned C6th and it has an old Telecaster pickup in there…right in the sweet spot!
