Got roped into making another growth chart for one of my friends from high school, my wife promised one from me for a baby shower gift.

The ruler was made out of a gorgeous peice of ambrosia stained quilted maple, I didn’t want too blond of wood so I dismissed the maple pile at first but my wife talked me into looking and I’m glad I did, $4 a bf for figured maple, I think this board was a steal. The carving and numbers were made out of tigerwood, or goncalo alves, very dense and splintery, terrible for carving, couldn’t recommend it less, still got it to turn out though (keep in mind I only use hand tools to carve).

Wife picked the boards and designed the carving….well she planned tree frogs in a jungle, and apparently bull frogs in a pond is different according to her (even if it was a pond in the jungle?) She still liked it though I now have a hearing check appointment scheduled for next week…...

Project turned out nicely but have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before we can deliver to see if Mrs Jenkins likes it (she apparently loves frogs, Hense the design, so shouldn’t be any issues)
