Nice work, Matt – especially if it’s one of your first projects ever. It seems to fit nicely in the room.
How much time did you spend on it?

Thank you. This piece was my first real attempt at something worth showing in public. I don’t remember how long it took to be honest, I worked on it over a couple of months. An hour here and there after work and the occassional weekend afternoon. If I had to guess I’m willing to admit at the time, I maybe put in 80 hours total, probably more? Looking back on it, I spent a lot of time using the wrong tool(s)/technique to achieve what the right one would have done in far less time. Thanks again. Matt

Which tool or technique (from the ones you learnt on this project) proved to be the top time-saver in the end?

I’m not really sure which, if any were better. This was the first time I made and used sliding dovetails for the drawer runners. It was challenging for a first timer but they look and work great.

lots of drawers for a early project in your woodworking career. You are courageous, and it worked nicely for the cd’s.
hats off to you,

Thanks, occassionally I jump in over my head on a project but it forces me to learn something I thought I couldn’t do in the first place. Multiple drawers don’t seem as bad as before.

Really nice. I love the old style apothacary cabinets and this has that same beautiful simplicity and feel. Great job.

Thank you! It has a prominent position in our living room…only because when it’s loaded with CDs it’s nearly impossible to move.
