Here is my most recent box. I’ve made quite a few boxes over the years and I have to say that this is my best one and favorite one. I’ve been practicing relief carving for a while so i thought I’d try it out on an actual project. I was a little nervous at first carving nice wood but it ended up looking pretty good. The 4 carved sides are soft maple, the legs and handle are cherry, and the lid is European white oak. I’m pretty impressed with how well my first “real” relief carvings turned out. I didn’t end up wasting any of my nice soft maple :) Overall it’s a fairly simple box but I’m very proud of the final result.

The carvings look great, and I like the overall shape of the box!

great carving,I have never done releif carving but I’m sure it takes a lot of practice to get to the point you are at, like the wood choice also and of course the maple leaf.
I can’t tell exactly how big the box is but I would imagine is around 18”x 18”,anyhow, great job Ryan
