Heart box for my LOML’s birthday.

Band saw box made from spalted maple. Finish is 3 coats of wipe on gloss poly.

I’m not happy with the hinge, I mortised a nut into the lid and ran a bolt all of the way thru from the bottom.
My daughter wants one now, so I’ll have to come up with something better.

The underside of the lid has the most spectacular spalting so I thought I would just swap the top and bottom but then the sides looked wrong with the mismatched grain pattern so in the end I just left it alone.

Approx. 6”x5”x3”

Tools used; Ridgid jointer, Rikon bandsaw, Ridgid spindle sander, DeWalt palm sander and crap drill press.
