I really need a work bench, my last one became a stand for my lathe. I wanted to make it with hand cut dove tales and half lap joints. I used 2×10 spruces lumber for the base and an old dresser I pulled out of the garbage for the bench top. It’s not pretty or fancy but for less than $20 I think it will meet my needs. I might put some drawers in the bottom for some extra mass and I’d like to put on another vice and drill out some dog holes. I still need a lot of practice with those dove tales.

cost is not an indication of quality – in this case your attention to quality far exceeds your initial cost. hand cut dovetails are hard enough in a 3/4” board, can’t imagine the problems with a 1 1/2” board

That’s pretty cool, Nothing wrong with a $20 work bench.
I like the top. Effective and does the job.
