I was recently looking for a project to use some left over mahogany and oak. I stumbled on a tool chest design at Loews website and I thought I would try to one up their basic design. The box is 3/4” mahogany, the drawers are 1/2” white oak, and the drawer bottoms are 1/4” Baltic birch ply. The draw pulls are made from 7mm magnum rifle shells. By drilling out the primer pockets a #4 screw fits perfectly. I am by no means a great craftsman but I am pleased with the final result.

I like the precision work here and straight lines.

I would say from the looks of your photos, you are a great craftsman, excellent work. I am especially impressed with how the drawers have an even relief on all sides and between each other.

That’s a beautiful tool chest. Nice work.

They all start out that way. The fun part is messing them up and starting over.

I saw this in your outfeed table post and had to take a closer look. Nicely done!

I really like the latch on your tool chest. It looks more substantial than the stamped steel latches that you find in the big box stores. Where can I get one? Thanks

The latch is solid brass and can be purchased at sailboat outfitters.
