This one is another of my favorites from the past year. Funny story with this one after it was done though. Got a call 2 months after completion and she asked if we warratied our doors. I said yes and went to see what happened. It was pretty obvious someone either kicked it or threw something into it. The panel pushed right through the retainer portion of the rail and stile profile. But the customer wouldn’t admit it and as we all know the customer is always right. So we rebuilt the door. I went to go to install it and only the kids were home. The youngest one greeted me at the door and said “boy am I glad you have that door” “My mom has been complaining to my dad since he did that”. I asked what did he do. “I have never seen him so mad” he said. ” slammed the door and kicked it shut” So I put the door back in my truck and went next door to where the homeowner works (they own the vet clinic next to their house) and asked for the truth. She finally admitted it and I put the door on with her promise to pay 30 dollars for the material. Then she lied about paying one of my employees cash when I was out of the shop. Couldn’t believe it. Obviously she will never get another warranty call. lol.

Hickory!!!! Beatuiful to look at, terrible to sand. We are finishing up a kitchen right now in hickory. After that I am raising my prices on it just because of the extra time it takes to mill and sand.

You are so right Chris. It is great looking but hard to work with. Some customers will go to extremes and play games with you. Don’t blame you one bit for no more warranty calls.

I’m making one just like it. I’m finding however that hickory is some pretty tough stuff. I went through a set of blades with my DW734 planer. Definitely upgrading to a 15” Grizzly asap. This is my first hickory kitchen and I hope it looks this good!
