My nephew’s wife recently blessed the Durning family with a new niece, so you know what that means…. Uncle Joe had to make her a name plate. For the boys I have been doing things like trucks and trains, but of course this would not be appropriate for a girl!

Took me a bit of cogitating ( Mark Wilson, that’s a Southern term for “thinking” ) and after trying unsuccessfully to do cut-outs of teddy bears and bunny rabbits, I happened to remember the princess bed that someone made here a few years back. And (again for Mark) the voices in my head said ... ”You big dummy, this new little Princess needs a Carriage !”

So that’s what I did. Took me several tries (aka: failures) to cut one out. The first one I cut thru the window frame because I wasn’t paying attention. DOH! On the second try I broke the carriage while trying to cut out her name.

And once again the voices in my head said ”Big dummy. Make the name SEPARATE from the carriage”

And that’s how this one came about. The name is cut from a piece of walnut I had in the pile. The base is of unknown species from a pallet. The wheels are plywood, and I simply have no idea what wood the carriage is. So without further adieu …

And here’s the little sweetheart that I sent it to.

I like what you did Joe. Now my wife wants me to make one for our grandson. I guess I’ll have to get busy.
