Art-Deco Bowl......After some lathe problems…....I burned out a condenser in the speed control…...a buddy got me up and running again….spinning out shavings…......Good to have friends with skills!
I used the last little block of 1.5 inch cherry I had and came up with this…...Cherry with a walnut and maple stripe running through it. I did the stripe glue-up first and then added the two-tone button in the middle. The button is 5/8 inch in diameter, the same as the width of the three stripes, and no, that is not another grape!
The bowl is 7.5 inches in diameter and about 1.73 inches tall. It is fiinished with satin poly, and the foot is covered with leather.

The stripe/button are excellent additions to this bowl.
Nice work, glad your lathe is working again.

John I love it , such a simple design element that makes this bowl a piece of DECO ART .
The woods you used are such a beautiful complimenting combination for this design but I am sure you will come up with another bowl similar as this one just will lead to another beauty .

That is beautiful, just love the strip and dot.
Really makes it jump out.
Thankyou for sharing.
