I cut the tree down a few weeks ago and left them out to dry a little before making anything out of them. I started with several different draw knives to remove all the bark and locate the knots on the on the log. I used a jig that I had seen on YouTube made by Izzy Swan to roughly cut it into a square. I used a hand plane to smooth out the saw cuts and determine the direction of the grain. With the stock flattened on 4 sides it made it easier to draw the pattern of the spoon shape, length, and get an idea of what it might turn out looking like. I cut the shape out with a band saw and used a belt/disc sander to smooth and contour the shape. The bowl\ cup was cut using a bowl gouge.
