I’ve got some experience with bigger metal lathes when I was younger, but I’ve never owned a wood lathe or turned wood before. I lucked into a good deal on a Nova Comet II and bought it on a whim basically. Add the basic HF tool set and an EWT detailer, and after a couple of test pieces I managed to turn out a half decent handle for the ice cream scoop.

Wood is mystery wood from a turning blank I picked up at part of a 5 piece pack at WC, finish is wipe on poly.

I found I really enjoyed the turning process, there is a sort of zen to it.
