Outhouse to Tool shed Conversion!!!

Project by Dick, & Barb Cain posted 832 days ago 2110 views 0 times favorited 13 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Some of you have been showing off your Outhouses lately, So I thought I might as well show ours off.

My Father-in-law built this in 1955, but I’ve moved it, & remodeled it over the years.

I even put a fiberglass roof on it to lighten things up a bit.

We switched to a composting toilet, because of new regulations. It was too close to the lake shore, & it was already 150 feet from the cabin, we decided to go modern, & being we also now have electricity.

Notice the vent system, you may want to ventilate your own too shed.

( Not meaning that your tools smell bad.) ;) I helps prevent rusting.

You face it toward the prevailing wind. It’s also screened against bugs.

Nice shed Dick. And many happy memories I’ll bet.

Very cool….glad you moved it before you changed the purpose….:) Great idea for the venturi. Is there a smaller tube inside facing away from the wind or does it just blow across the face of the tee branch.

I like the diamond clerestory.

Good to see some more of your lake-front property, Dick. Are you back there this summer?

Bob, It works like a venturi in a carburetor, the air goes into a larger opening and exhaust through a same size, creating a negative pressure in the up exhaust pipe, the downward Tee.

Don , We just went out for the day, on Thursday. I had to do some logging. We had a large Black Spruce come down in a wind storm.

Barb is still working at getting her strength back.

I’ll be showing the logging event on my blog.

That’s neater unit than the “Roosevelt” we had when I was a kid and it was step up from what we had before that. You’d better waatch out though, if you get too much lift with that venturi you might have a heli-out house. I expect Ice cream the next time I’m in Minnesota.

Dick, looks like it was a privilege to do some business in that facility. Did you guys have corn cobs or Sears Roebuck catalogs? If it’s been around since 1955 (and moved a couple of times) I’d say it is a standing testament to your Father-in-Laws craftsmanship.

Sears don’t make a catalog anymore, & we don’t live in corn country, so we use peat moss in this neck of the woods. ;) LOL
If you want find out what the venturi effect is, check this out on Wikipedia.
